We are way past excited to be celebrating Windrush Day with the photographer and artist Vanley Burke. Vanley began photographing the black community from his base in Handsworth, Birmingham in the late 1960’s, producing probably the most extensive photographic record of the Caribbean diaspora in Britain today.

Vanley will be discussing his life and work and playing some of his favourite songs with the music journalist and leader of the Birmingham Music Coalition, Lyle Bignon. True to form this will be followed by the Windrush Day Dance with Bass Warrior’s Caroline Murphy.
